Today on 31 December 2025, we went to check on our web statistics.

Innovation:

This year we will also publish the number of “visits”, as well as the number of “hits” as we have consistently reported over the two decades of our web site’s existence.

Visits during 2025:    817,836

Definition of visits – A visit is one user’s continuous browsing activity (multiple pages/multiple “hits”). This is a better figure really, in that it refers to someone actually spending time browsing on the site. Earlier, when we began this exercise in 2002, everyone at the time tended to use the figure for “hits”. Usually for statistics, it is essential to continue using the same thing every year. So, we continue to give the number of hits per year but from now on we will also give the number of visits each year. “Hits” continue to indicate the trend over time for our site (is it stable, growing, shrinking) and “visits” to show real browsing from this year onward.

Both figures have been at their highest in the last quarter. So within 2025 there are growing numbers of hits and visits.

Happy New Year to you all!
