Accelerated Genocide by Israel with Trump Backing - Genocide Blog No 66

All human beings with any feelings in their hearts are shattered by the renewed Israeli bombing and shelling of the people of Palestine living in Gaza. With any feelings in their hearts. This happens even as the accelerated expulsion of Palestinian families from the West Bank and Jerusalem continues, proving the Israeli State’s intention to commit genocide. It is not easy to continue with our daily routine when there is this level of intentionally inflicted torture on a whole people, hemmed in, driven around, pounded from air and land. Even the members of the Mauritian Government have enough feelings in their hearts to have come out in public and taken a stand, “Mauritius strongly condemns the launch of massive airstrikes by Israel ..., deplores the re-start of hostilities leading to persistent and atrocious acts of violence in Gaza. Mauritius reiterates its appeal for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and for an early resumption of negotiations for a peaceful and long-lasting resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict without any preconditions”. Still, the Government is not respecting even its minimum commitment under the Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and is still not, at the very least, joining South Africa in its ICJ Case against Israel for genocide. Mauritius has a duty to prevent genocide. This means it has a duty to name what Israel is doing as “genocide”, and to prevent its continuation. What we need now, as well as feelings in our hearts and even words spelled out, is Government action. All over the world there are people, and governments, too, that are finding ways to act.
But, meanwhile, in the world there are some human beings in Israel, and elsewhere, who seem not to have “any feelings in their hearts” in the usual way. And this, too, needs to be recognized. These are the “eschatological” – a big word we might as well understand, because, ancient as it is, it has become relevant to reality today, or “apocalyptical” or “end-of-the-worldish”, leaders now in power in Israel. They include the two Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir. The overall leader of these eschatologists is Bibi Netanyahu, himself. Anyway, these are “true believers” of the worst kind. They work consciously towards total disorder as part of their irrational politico-religious beliefs. With the destruction, they believe, of the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the Third Temple will come into being, and the beginning of a new world order in Judaism will be heralded. To get to the point where this is possible, their political aim is to bring about a “big war”, a war big enough to create so much disorder that, within it, these apocalypse-seekers can then get rid of the totality of the “Arab people” within what they call “Greater Israel” and take over permanently the whole of this territory – whose actual borders differ wildly in the minds of different eschatologists. Netanyahu, as I said, has come to represent the totality of this current amongst Zionists. And they – the “Jewish eschatologists” – are joined by those millions of people in the Trump base who are Christian eschatologists, Christian Zionists, that have an overlapping “end of the world” belief with that of their Jewish counterparts. These other “true believers” wait eagerly for the time when Christians – alive and dead – will physically, together, go up into the clouds, to meet the Lord up in the air somewhere. And that will happen when, these zealots believe, the Jews have taken over “Israel”. So, they, too, egg on the violent attack on Palestinians. So, they, too, stifle any feelings in their hearts. In Mauritius, there are some evangelical Christians, who hear this kind of thing preached in their churches even today. Yes, we live in Dark Ages. Dark Ages with a cell phone and some social media thrown in.
As I write this blog, Israeli society is breaking in two over this issue. And its State, too. The split began a few years before the 7 October Hamas attack against the Israeli occupying forces. Now, the division is coming to a head. Civil war threatens.
So, to quote former British Ambassador, Alistair Crooke in a recent article on this entitled, “A geo-political reading of Israel’s incipient civil war”, when President Trump threatens that, “All hell will break loose”, this means these eschatological true believers rejoice. Does Trump know how the Israeli apocalyptical maniacs interpret his words? And act on them? Or does he say the words in the context of some other logic? Or with no logic at all? It is not clear. And Trump’s manipulation is such that often there is a mixture in his talk of his “knowing” and “not knowing” and, in any case, not caring.
Anyway, as soon as Trump had threatened a second time that “all hell would break loose”, Netanyahu’s Israel simply shattered the ceasefire that Trump, himself, had orchestrated and imposed upon him. As if permission had been given. Indeed permission has been given to Israel by Trump. So, Israel continues, once again, to act with unspeakable impunity. Israel has simply gone back to working at driving all Palestinians off their beloved Palestinian land – by genocide, as everyone can see. And Trump, the very man who orchestrated and imposed the ceasefire, has folded like a pliant vassal before the will of the Netanyahu lobby in the USA, and has given Israel the go-ahead.
So, over 400 people in Gazan families were slaughtered on Tuesday early morning, while they took a meal before the day broke and the fast began. Yes, the attack is during Ramadan. So, by Wednesday, Israel’s hideous pattern of forced expulsion, hounding families like herds of animals from pillar to post, bombing children as well as shelling old-pensioners from tanks, and shooting of aid workers from snipers’ guns all continue apace. The Israeli armed forces men and women acting as if they had no feelings in their hearts.
So, Israel will continue to lose the war against Hamas, continue to lose any credibility it may ever have had in the eyes of some, and continue to lose its future hopes of existence as a State. So, the only option for Israel is to continue to drag the USA towards yet another war on behalf of Israel. Why “yet another”? The big war will come after the first six wars, denounced by us in our December blog 59, in the following terms: “In 2007, former US General Wesley Clark, explained something important. It is in the news again. Here is why. He said on Amy Goodman’s show in 2007 that, about ten days after the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers, around 20 September 2001, that a top US General had informed him that ‘we are going to war with Iraq’. A few weeks later, he added, when we were already bombing Afghanistan, the same General told him he had just got another Memo from the then Secretary of Defense that ‘describes how we are going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and finishing off with Iran’. Well the time line was nearly 20 years longer than in the Memo, and the order not exact, but now, in December 2024, the only country left on the list, after the USA ‘took out’ Syria, is Iran. All are left in different degrees of ruin after having ‘regime change’ forced upon them by the US Empire, on a list that may have been drawn up by Israel, who knows.”
This time taking out Iran will be not just the last one on the list the Zionists drew up in 2001, but it will be “the big one”. Yes, a war against Iran, if it comes, will be a big one. And this is just what the “eschatologists” want. So, the world teeters towards irrational territory: belief in provoking Armageddon.
This is part of a bigger picture, a terrifying picture, of itself: The American empire, now falling every day, continues its increasingly violent death throes. Trump tries desperately to reverse the failing US economy. He imposes taxes on imports, and this makes matters worse for the US economy. Trump, accusing Democrats of attacking free speech, attacks it, himself, viciously. He expels a Green Card holder, Mahmoud Khalil, who protested peacefully at Columbia University, and who the University Authorities apologized to in May last year after a one-day suspension for being in a Palestine solidarity protest. The expulsion order is being challenged in Court and by street demonstrations. Trump is now using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 (sic), in order to expel anyone he wants to expel. So, we are back to those days.
Trump attacks the whole of the US State, now closing down the entire federal Education Department. He rules by edict. A pattern that had already worsened under Biden. And now it goes full steam ahead. Trump wants to be King.
Private Corporations will reign without the least protection by law or by the State.
The gains of the 1917 Russian Revolution that forced the bourgeois state world-wide to tamp down the violence of capitalism, have finally worn too thin to hold. The state violence will go beserk throughout the West. Trump ignores Court Orders. He sacks civil servants without any due process. He intends to annex his own NATO allies, Canada directly, and Denmark by taking over Greenland. Trump may seek peace with Russia – and in the process dump his European allies in deep trouble – but the fact is that, in any case, Russia had won against Ukraine. And it is now totally exposed that, all along, Ukraine was a mere proxy for the USA and its European and NATO allies, killing people, mainly Ukrainians, only to “weaken Russia”.
As the US economy fails, Trump tries, also, to consolidate his own version of “The West”: He intends to annex Canada, to his North, and Greenland, to the north of Canada, too. This way, his collateral, in terms of raw materials in the ground might double, too, thus warding off possible bankruptcy or economic melt-down. He does not want Mexicans, so he is, instead, attacking Mexico, and forcing it further into the hands of criminal gangs. He is tightening US control over the Panama Canal further to his South, and threatening to annex it. He wants at the very least the Monroe Doctrine to hold: that the USA has a sphere of influence, a monopoly, on the whole of the Americas, starting with the Northern half. And he aims to withdraw all his troops from Europe – hence peace with Russia – and from the Middle East, too, but here he hits a problem: the Zionist Lobby in the USA is too strong and will not let him to withdraw from his role as backer of Israel.
So, the open sore of a blood-thirsty Israel festers on. Its more irrational right-wing religious fanatics take hold of the State, aim at a reign by the executive branch alone. This happens in a parallel with the Trump executive Orders challenging the traditional balance of powers in the USA.
The USA is unable to act independently of its own “tail”, Israel.
Again we quote from an earlier Blog 35, “In truth, Netanyahu is the devil’s tail that now wags the genocidal dog, Biden.” Just replace the word Biden with the word Trump.
Trump represents a section of the bourgeoisie that opposes the globalization bourgeoisie. His close aides are (See our 4 February Article, “When the Empire Falls”) from the “data” and “communications” sector: Elon Musk (Tesla and X), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Tim Cook (Apple), Sundar Pichai (Google) and Jeff Bezos (Amazon). He wants to bring factories back to the USA – especially from Asia, in particular from China.
In fact, he prepares to confront China, to “contain” China. In this, as in so many things, he has the same strategy that the Democrats had already begun to put in place. Always on the lines of “good guys” (us in the US) and the “bad guys” (who we can rely on CNN, Fox News, BBC, the whole gamut of French TV stations to help create as bad guys), war after war. The next “bad guys” – to replace Putin and add to Hamas – are in “China”.
But, for now, everything is in a state of “bat fol”.
Both Trump and Netanyahu, jointly and severally, are intent on “creating a new reality on the ground”, taking vast powers unto themselves and themselves alone. It is extremely dangerous. And, on top of it, this is happening in a nuclear age. Both the USA and Israel have nuclear war-heads, so a war is truly unthinkable.
Rationality has been thrown overboard by leaders of both the US Empire, as it falls, and also by the leaders of the USA’s European and NATO allies/antagonists (Britain, Germany, France, Canada, etc). And as the US Empire is being dragged along by a mad captain, Israel, so European leaders prepare to continue the war, as best they can, against Russia, behind another mad captain, Zelensky – if the former piano-player, playing with his organ, lasts in office for any length of time, after being dumped by the USA.
Armageddon is nigh. The eschatologists are putting in place a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If we do not prevent it from coming true, that is.
So, we need to put pressure on our Government to join the South African case. And we need to get the US base on Diego Garcia closed down. We have been building up a broad coalition to hold a street demonstration on the issue of both no to military bases, and stop the genocide. The date for the march will be announced soon. Prepare to take the day off work! Start inviting people, and asking them to make it a priority, and to arrange to take the day off.
