Content of a Leaflet distributed to the public during the demonstration held today in Port-Louis calling the Prime Minister to give a statement in the Parliament on Government's position on the Boycott of Israel.

We support the 11-person demonstration-with-banner, as one of 3 actions that an “ad hoc” group has organized in support of the people of Palestine.
At LALIT member Ragini Kistnasamy’s Report Back from her action of “protective presence in Palestine”, together we all decided to meet to plan urgent action. At this meeting, we decided, first, to send an open letter to the hotel bosses’ organization AHRIM calling on them to persuade the Maritim Hotel to rescind its invitation to two Israeli music groups to the festival it will host soon. Second, we decided to call on the new Prime Minister to make a statement in Parliament tomorrow on the need for boycotts to isolate Israel (see letter below), and third, we decided it was our duty to come and stand in front of Government House to make a public appeal for a Government stand in favour of a generalized boycott of Israel, and to popularize the boycott movement.

Letter sent to Honorable Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam
Dear Sir,
We wish to convey our heartfelt congratulations following the overwhelming victory of your alliance during the last general elections.
We are writing to you with regards to the coming up of the Mystik Gardens music festival to be held on December 7th, 2024, in the Ruins of Balaclava, a National Heritage Site. This event has lined up two Israeli Groups namely Vini Vici and Omiki.
You are aware of the ongoing genocide being perpetrated in Palestine where entire and defenseless Palestinian families have been literally slaughtered by the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF, in Gaza, the latter being armed by the USA. For your information and consideration, the two aforesaid groups have publicly voiced out their support to the Israeli state authorities despite the ongoing genocide.
In this context, we call on you to make a Prime Minister’s statement in Parliament in favor of the boycott of Israel economically and politically but also on matters with regards sports, culture and academia.
Honorable Prime Minister, we do hope that you will give our request due consideration
