Genocide Blog 48 – Israel loses war, continues genocide and USA gaslights the world

Even as the main Opposition Parties – Labour, the MMM, Nouveaux Democrates, Linion Moris, PMSD and LALIT – adhere to a “Common Statement” calling for the Mauritian Government to support the South Africa case against Israel for genocide, we all watch Israel losing its war on the battle field, we all watch Biden and Blinken gas-lighting the world with their dazzling lies and – the reason for urgent actions like this one – we all still watch the genocide going on and on and on, a nightmare we can’t wake up from.
Common Statement
The “Common Statement” of this wide spectrum of political parties is a simple one. It calls for Mauritius to join South Africa’s case at the ICJ against Israel for genocide. It was delivered by hand to the Prime Minister at Treasury Building on 13 June by a delegation of women in the Muvman Liberasyon Fam, the organization that circulated the Statement. Rajni Lallah read it out after handing it over:
“Noting that the State of Mauritius in 2019, by signing the Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide of 1948, has, like all signatories, already agreed that genocide is ‘a crime under international law which they undertake to prevent and to punish’ (Article 1), We believe it important for the Mauritian State to support the Republic of South Africa’s case before the UN’s top Court, the International Court of Justice, in which South Africa is holding Israel responsible for violations, in Palestine in particular in Gaza, of the Convention.”
Its timing is perfect, and if it helps convince Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth to join all the countries already supporting South Africa’s case against Israel, it will have had a role in history. Each new country that supports the case adds its weight to the scales that are tipping against the Israeli occupation and genocide.
Israel has lost its war on Gaza
Right now, Israel is losing, or has lost, its war against Hamas.
Israel’s stated military aims were twofold: to “free the hostages” and “obliterate Hamas”. Israel instead killed more hostages than it has, by military means, freed. Israel has not only failed to finish off Hamas but has caused Hamas to gain in military and even political stature in Palestine, in the Arab world, and in the whole world. Israel has even lost its un-stated aim of corralling and driving all or most of the Palestinians of Gaza into the Egyptian desert that borders on Rafah. The Palestinian people learnt that lesson in 1948. Should they leave, Israel will never let them back to their beloved land.
This Israeli defeat in its war on Gaza does not mean that the genocide is stopping.
To kill, maim and terrorize women and children is not a military strategy that can win. It is not a military strategy at all. It is so appalling, so beyond words, that Israel is, by resorting to it, destroying itself, as a Jewish state. Israel has lost by attacking itself. And Israel, having lost, continues to attack itself.
This is what Lloyd Austen, US War Secretary, meant when, on 2 December last, he warned Israel’s killing of civilians would bring strategic defeat. It just has. His exact words were: “In this kind of a fight, the center of gravity is the civilian population. And if you drive them into the arms of the enemy, you replace a tactical victory with a strategic defeat.” The only tactical victory Israel can boast of is killing and maiming women, old folk and children, turning children into angels and orphans, if not amputees and shell-shocked little ones. This is a defeat, even tactically-speaking. It sets off auto-destruction, strategically-speaking
This destruction and auto-destruction is constituted by the bombing Gaza, already a ghetto for a people without an army let alone an air force or navy, and this bombing was not for the first time, bombing into the wretched ruins of rubble we see on our screens. I saw a mother trying to sweep something that was perhaps her bedroom with a broom. I saw one little boy settle down with his notebook to do homework on a tiny slab of flat rubble, a bit of his broken home for a desk. Dante’s Inferno. The nine rings of Israeli sin: killing the innocent, maiming the children, displacing the multitudes, inciting to genocide by foul language, confusing of the people with lies and trickery and traps, destroying hospitals on purpose, expelling and assassinating journalists who are our eyes and our witnesses, blocking even killing those bringing nourishment, committing all-out genocide.
And so it comes about that a vast majority of the ordinary people of each country in the world come to the rescue of Palestinians. Everyone, or almost, amongst the peoples of the world, who supported Israel or didn’t care, now begins to turn against Israel with horror.
Biden and Blinken Gaslight the World
The way Biden and Blinken present their peace plan as “an Israeli proposal”, even as Israel publicly calls it a “non-starter”, says it will go on bombing Gaza until doomsday, is madness. Unless they are gaslighting us? Pretending by the sheer force of their military might that what they say is true even if it is patently false. They, the USA, turn down our gaslighting, and then tell us we have serious problems with our eyes. They try to drive us mad. But it just is not working. Biden and Blinken look more and more like morons. Cruel morons.
How can it possibly be Israel’s “peace plan” if Israel does not agree with it? It is a logical impossibility. Therefore it is a lie. Any three-year-old would spot it. “Your father says your mother will, if agree to be good, give you a cup cake. Your mother says not on her life. And your father goes on saying you have to be good by keeping your half of the bargain. Only, Biden and Blinken are not talking cup cakes. They are telling a lie to cover a genocide.
And the purpose of the lie is just as visible. The aim is to blame Hamas for the continued slaughter and massacre that Israel, the USA’s ally, is perpetrating against the Palestinians. The aim is thus to perpetuate the perpetration of the genocide. It is so shameful. So destructive. But this is what the USA is doing. And goes on doing.
Which means the genocide is the genocide of the USA. Biden and Blinken own it. They have to pretend to be doing something, and pretend that Israel is not committing genocide – not because they believe this pretense but because Biden will lose the November elections, because who wants to vote for a genocidal leader? Even if the only other choice is Trump, there are limits to where moral beings can cast their vote.
So, the war is over. Israel has lost. But it does not want to sign on the dotted line. So it refuses to. Israel then continues the killing of Palestinians – in Gaza and in the West Bank. And the USA covers for all this by .... shielding Israel, pretending Israel offers a deal, and that Hamas refuses. Hamas is in a difficult position. It, being wiser than a three-year-old, knows that Israel is not proposing anything. So, accepting Israel’s proposal is difficult. But, they have nevertheless accepted to discuss the proposal.
