Stop Israeli Genocide and Free Palestine: Women’s Peace March – Friday 1 March at Noon

14.02.2024

LALIT is inviting its women members and all women who want to take a stand to contact MLF to give a hand organizing the “Women’s Peace March”. It will be held 1 March at Noon in Port Louis. The Rendezvous is the Company Gardens. This stand against the worst excess of patriarchy, genocide, is important. Israel and the USA need to be isolated. The women’s peace march will help. The best way to help in the next fortnight is to organize a small group of women and girls, and invite an MLF member to come and hold a 30-minute invitation meeting. This way more women can be in a position to invite their women friends and women family members.

Here is the MLF’s communiqué:

MLF COMMUNIQUE

“Women’s Peace March” in Solidarity with the People of Palestine

The Muvman Liberasyon Fam has taken the initiative to organize, in the run-up to International Women’s Day, a “Women’s Peace March” for all women of conscience to be able to take a stand, a public position against the massacre that the Israeli State is inflicting upon the people of Palestine, especially in Gaza. We will, by this action, express our solidarity with the Palestinian people, and our support for the South African case against the State of Israel at the ICJ for genocide.

Friday 1 March

12:00 noon

Company Gardens

La Chausée, Port Louis.

The march will be in the centre of Port Louis, and we will disband by 1.00 pm. For more details, please contact any of us below.

For the first time in history, we are witnessing genocide as it is taking place. The Israeli army is killing women and children, the aged and the infirm, babies on incubators, the wounded in hospital, the ill and those living with a disability, the young and the old, even women as they give birth. The time has come for women to stand up and be counted.

The Treaty for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide gives us the responsibility to prevent genocide, as the Mauritian people, and as individual people.

By taking this stand, we, as women, are showing solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza who are, right now, threatened with extermination by the Israeli State.

The highest international court, the UN’s International Court of Justice (ICJ), that we now know about after Mauritius won its victory against the UK-USA on the issue of Diego Garcia and Chagos. ICJ has given a provisional ruling against Israel: yes, South Africa is right. There is a Prima Facie Case against Israel for genocide.

The Court told Israel to stop killing Palestinians. But Israel has gone on with its killing. We are now nearing 30,000 dead. The Court told Israel to stop injuring Palestinians – physically and mentally. But Israel has seriously injured some 70,000 people physically, and traumatized the entire people of Gaza. Israel continues to amputate the arms and legs of women, children, everyone. The psychological scars are beyond imagination. The court tol Israel to allow a constant supply of food, water and essential services. Israel has continued to starve the people of Gaza on purpose. The Israeli state causes the death from malnutrition of thirteen children a day. This is in addition to those that die every day from bombs falling directly upon them.

Powerful countries like, in particular the USA, go on supplying the arms for Israel to perpetrate the massacres. The USA continues to fund the genocide against the Palestinians. The USA persists in assuring the diplomatic cover without which Israel, isolated and bankrupt would not be able to continue this cruel and inhuman genocide.

So, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the MLF is making this formal call for a “Women’s Peace March” on 1 March in Port Louis. (We are holding the march one week before International Women’s Day because it coincides with Mahashivratri.) Please contact any of us below for details.
