Genocide Blog 31 – As the USA Eggs on Genocide by Israel

Israel now unleashes even worse slaughter on the Palestinians in Gaza. Even as thirteen Palestinian children die every day of severe malnutrition from the Israeli state of siege on Gaza, Biden remains Israel’s full “backer”. This is even as it gets more difficult for us, all over the world, who follow Israel’s butchery, to cope with “normal life”. A feeling of dread lies heavy on our chests. We imagine if we were, right now, living in Gaza City in the North, or in Khan Younis in the middle or near Rafah right South, instead of in Ragoo Lane in Bambous like us, or wherever we are. Even as we hear the nerve-racking buzz of drones that precede the Israeli-USA slaughter by bomb, we begin to feel the pangs of hunger inflicted upon us and upon our children by the starvation imposed by the dreaded USA-Israel alliance.
Comparisons of the Palestinians with the brave one-month-long Warsaw Ghetto uprising of the Jews against the Nazi occupiers in 1943 become clearer every day. When the writer Masha Gessen, a daughter of holocaust survivors, first made the comparison in her New Yorker article of 15 December, she was seeing ahead. It makes us realize that it is no wonder that the pro-Israeli propagandists had worked for years to outlaw the comparison they knew would end up being so obvious, by imposing a definition of anti-semitism that paves the way for Israel to act this way with impunity. The USA-Israel game is up now. But their genocide against the Palestinians is proceeding apace.
The Israeli Defense Force has literally “corralled” Palestinians, who Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant notoriously calls “human animals”, from all over Gaza into that tiny bit of bleak border-land near the Egyptian desert of Sinai, into that tiny “Warsaw ghetto” within the “Warsaw ghetto” of Gaza. The Israeli Government keeps instructing Palestinians to move to “safe” areas, ever-nearer this handkerchief of land, even while bombing them all the while. Israel’s evacuation orders cover two-thirds of Gaza, according to the UN. What is this, if not genocide?
It is the most premeditated mass cruelty ever meted out live on video.
And all the while, the Israeli army bars food from entering Gaza. Right wing Israeli fascists physically block the food lorries. So now, every Gazan lives with the worst of experiences, like those Jewish families in Warsaw did and in the death camps did: suffering constant pangs of hunger. And now the flimsy shelters the IDF has driven them into are invaded by icy wind and winter rain. There are no toilets. Water is scarce. Illness is thus caused intentionally to spread. Israel’s genocide is now running rampant.
And what does Biden do? He appeases Netanyahu. Just as British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, in the 1930s, appeased Hitler. That, too, is the comparison we need to make here. It is a frightening one.
Worse still. What does the USA also do, while the IDF bars food lorries, and fascist militias block them? The USA blocks its funding of the UN agency, the only agency on god’s earth that is capable of alleviating Palestinian suffering at the hands of Israel. This agency was set up by the UN because it was a UN Resolution to set up Israel that caused the millions of Palestinians to be routed by Israeli militia, and to flee as refugees. UNRWA has a sacred historical duty to Palestinian refugees. Let us look closely at this US blocking of money to UNRWA. The day after the UN’s ICJ judgment, Israel announces allegations against a dozen UNRWA employees with no evidence, and the USA at once cuts its funding to UNRWA? This is collusion with genocide. In plain sight.
And who was it who introduced the Law into the US Congress that makes the UN Genocide Treaty binding in the USA? While the UN Treaty was voted in 1948, the USA signed only in 1988. Joe Biden himself introduced the law. As Senator, he launched the Bill in person in 1987. Genocide Joe himself. No pleading ignorance.
The ICJ told Israel to stop the killing of civilians. Think of the children, the babes in arms, the grannies, the pregnant women that Israel is still bombing even after this binding judgment. The ICJ told Israel to stop injuring the little children, the infirm and the injured. Think of the meaning of Israel continuing to bomb and shell hospitals and people’s houses. The ICJ told Israel to stop destroying the infrastructure on which life depends in Gaza. Israel simply ignores the ICJ, the UN’s top court. Instead it lashes out, the very day after the Court judgment, against the UN as a whole. Israel suddenly accuses some UNRWA staff of implication in the Hamas incursion three months ago, in a childish attempt to deflect from the ICJ binding judgment and to wreak revenge against the UN for its ICJ judgment. All this so as to better perpetrate the genocide. And the USA goes on and on, aiding and abetting, aiding and abetting. When will this stop? Let’s get Pravind Jugnauth to support the South African case at the UN and to submit its support in writing, as his Government has already done for the other ICJ case against illegal Israeli settlements.
