Genocide Blog 30 – Rebellion in CNN and NY Times against Boss’s Censorship on Israeli Genocide

05.02.2024

Even as we recover from the flooding at the Grand River LALIT workshop and offices – five foot of water inside the building and six foot in our kitchen and mess room space, leaving mud inches deep when the water receded – we realize how Palestinians in Gaza are still facing something a thousand times worse, or rather infinitely worse. Their houses and workshops and offices are mostly turned to rubble. The roads out front bull-dozed. The nearby hospital bombed. The schools – even with refugees taking shelter in them – bombarded and assaulted. And their family and friends slaughtered all around them, even as they and most of those close to them are being threatened with death by starvation, thirst and dehydration, preventable and treatable illness and impending epidemics. And even as the ICJ calls Israel out for “plausibly” and “imminently” at risk of committing genocide against them, and calling on Israel to urgently allow and enable food and shelter to be supplied, what do Palestinians have to see before their eyes? Sixteen (16) Western countries have the moral turpitude and human cruelty to suspend their contributions to the only aid-giver operational in Gaza, UNWRA, on the spurious allegations of the offending State, Israel, against an infinitely small number of UNWRA workers. It is truly outrageous.

Israel only gets away with genocide – so far – because of the USA that arms it, runs it, funds it, supports it and uses its Veto at the UN to protect it and is clearly complicit in the genocide. Its own argument, when the US announces it is “backing Israel”. The reason the USA is bombing targets in Iraq and Syria and the Yemen, is that in these countries there are Iranian-“backed” forces there. The USA says Iran funds them and arms them. Well the USA funds and arms Israel. So we need to isolate not just Israel, but the USA, too. And in the West, hundreds of thousands of people are defying their own Governments that act so blindly as chatwa, following the USA even in cutting off food supplies from Palestinians in Gaza who are being openly threatened with genocide by starvation by the Israeli top military brass. And this has been quoted in the ICJ as proof of plausible intent to commit genocide.

And the USA, and its Western chatwa states, have only been able to be complicit with genocide against the Palestinian people because of the cover they have, in turn, been granted by the supposedly independent media. The CNN is one of the worst. As is the New York Times. With no reporters in Gaza, and constant putting out of Israeli lies and propaganda, in both institutions there have been staff rebellions. In the CNN it is over a series of forms of censorship outlined in today’s The Guardian. In the New York Times, it is over a dossier about concocted Israeli allegations of “mass rape” once Israel’s lurid inventions of “babies being decapitated” got debunked. The NY Times pulled its daily podcast following an internal rebellion. At the CNN staff has accused the bosses of imposing “journalistic malpractice”. The CNN forbids quotes and films from Hamas, has no-one on the ground in Gaza, and puts Israeli propaganda out on loudspeakers. The CNN, like the BBC, did the truly disgusting thing of live-streaming Israel’s defense at the ICJ, while not live-streaming the South African case. Talk about supposedly respected news outlets becoming defenders of a live Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people.
