Our Web-site Again has a Record Number of Visits

Over the past year, LALIT has had over three million “hits” on our website. It is the highest number of visits we have had to our web site in all its 22 year history. So, thank you for your visits.
As you may know, our party has had its site since 2002. Visits have steadily grown. In our first year, we had 242 “hits”, and in 2023 we have had 3,092,390 hits. Check the constant increase in list year-by-year below:

On our website – with its sections for Documents, Programs and Manifestos, Videos, Audios, News, massive News Archive, Kreol-English dictionary and so on. We also have a Facebook page.
But, our main political tool, in a way, remains our printed and published bimonthly political magazine, REVI LALIT, which this year has two special editions: “Filozofi LALIT” and “Stratezi LALIT”. This is the best political tool for members to contribute to, learn from, share via, and recruit with. And it is the only such political publication in Mauritius. It has come out more-or-less constantly ever since its inception in November 1976, with gaps when instead, for example, we concentrated on our weekly or fortnightly newspaper, Lagazet Lalit de Klas, which came out for a number of years or when we brought out an international newsletter called News and Views for a few years. Until today, there are still people who try to find a complete set of REVI LALIT! If you are not a regular reader, you should become one.
The website, however, has become not only a political tool, but a fantastic source of research material. Academic theses and other academic papers on Mauritian politics and related subjects seldom fail to list the LALIT publications, and increasingly the LALIT website. More recently, it has become the source of Kreol material for language research. And though these are not our aim, they are a useful side-effect. Politically our site is important, because it helps to give a longer view of politics than the myopic view presented in much of the media. It also means that, together with our social media, we are less dependent on either the mainstream media or the MBC, both of which have political agendas, short-term memories and often fickle political taboos that can act as a form of censorship of vital ideas.
