Genocide Blog 20 – One woman witness cracks US-Israeli Hegemony

Today we write about the power of one single witness. An Israeli woman.
Western “hegemony” is a powerful thing. But, like all hegemony, also fragile. Hegemony is total, as it were. But the slightest fracture or even fault-line can break it. Hegemony fractures both suddenly and inevitably, at a certain point. At those moments in history, every action of every person can be critically important.
As if to prove this, we note that in the past five days, the mainstream Western intelligentsia, and even Western Governments, have begun to scramble suddenly and unexpectedly, to distance themselves, tragically too late, from the genocide that Israel is committing against the Palestinian people. Even the three governments Australia, Canada and New Zealand, one up by the North Pole and two near the South Pole, have taken the bizarre measure of making a “joint statement” in favour of a “sustainable ceasefire”. These three are three of the “Five Eyes” Western spy network. Like Cyclops, they have one eye each. Like Cyclops, they are violent, but not so clever. The five-eye countries goose-step along, usually in lock-step, thus these three have distanced themselves from the USA that twice vetoed a ceasefire at the UN Security Council, and the UK that abstained.
Rishi Sunak quickly then scrambled, in turn, to call for a “sustainable ceasefire”, too. Four Eyes now distanced from the one big one!
Simultaneously, all the academics and NGO leaders that rely on US funding, or those that rely on funding from other pro-Israel states like Germany, including in Mauritius, are fast pretending they were always taking a stand against the genocide. This is a good thing. But a mea culpa might be a better thing. And the best would be understanding the genocide, and opposing it publicly.
Protests continue apace world-wide at the grassroots. For example, a co-ordinated protest of Jewish organizations, and their allies, blocked bridges on Friday in eight American cities: Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Chicago to mark the 8th day of Hanukah, the Jewish festival. They all call for a ceasefire. Every action and every word helps at this crucial moment of history.

This one witness sends a bright beam right through the “fog of war” that otherwise allows Israeli propaganda to trump truth.
Yasmin Porat had been at the Rave Party with her partner, and together they fled to the nearby Kibbutz. The 44-year old woman is mother of three children. She lost her partner in the cross-fire when the Israeli Defense Force finally arrived at the Kibbutz Be’eri and began shooting at Hamas men and their prisoners alike. Yasmin Porat loved going to Rave parties – and they came a long way to go to this one.
The dossier we have re-published on our site was prepared by the Electronic Intifada, a team that works methodically at getting to the truth, as we have explained in a previous blog. The honesty of this witness, and the persistence of this type of work tthat the Electronic Intifada team is doing, is what contributes to countries being able to take position.
It is important to read the dossier because it is clearly not propaganda. The interview was broadcast by Israeli State Radio, KAN. The testimony is by one of those exceptionally frank witnesses that remember clearly, tell the truth and give their impressions honestly. Her testimony was removed from the KAN site for a while, then after being republished by others who had recorded it, it was put up again – with additional material that had originally been removed. And the Electronic Intifada made the transcription we are publishing.
The genocide of the Palestinian People that the Israeli state and USA are perpetrating right now, before our very eyes, and that will affect the whole world for generations to come, relies on silencing this kind of eye-witness report. But the truth is coming out.
The people of the world are not supposed to get this kind of insight into what really happened on 7 October. We are all supposed to stay under the spell of the American-Israeli propaganda that Hamas is like ISIS. Hamas, the US-Israel propaganda says, aimed to rape and kill babies and commit atrocities, as a strategy. In fact, Hamas was there in order to take prisoners. The testimony of this honest-sounding witness, Yasmin Porat, exposes the propaganda for what it is.
This one witness statement then becomes one of the tiny, hairline cracks in the hegemony that the US is about to lose, when it becomes one big fracture that splits open and exposes all the lies.
