LALIT web-site maintains high figures

LALIT has had a party website from 2002. In our first year, we had 242 “hits”, and in 2022 we have had 2,886,239 hits. Our increase in visits and hits has been constant, with a plateau around nearly three million a year, as you can see from the figures below.

As well as our website – with its sections for Documents, Videos, News and News Archive, Kreol-English dictionary and so on – we also have a Facebook page. But, our main political tool remains our printed and published bimonthly political magazine, REVI LALIT. This is the best political tool for members to contribute to, learn from, share via, and recruit with. And it is the only such political publication in Mauritius. It has come out more-or-less constantly ever since its inception in November 1976, with gaps when instead, for example, we concentrated on our weekly or fortnightly newspaper, Lagazet Lalit de Klas, which came out for a number of years or when we brought out an international newsletter called News and Views for a few years.. Until today, there are still people who try to find a complete set of REVI LALIT. Our next number will be 150. If you are not a regular reader, you should become one.
The website, as well as being a way people keep up-to-date with news and analyses of Mauritian and world politics, is also a useful research tool. As Dr. Jimmy Harmon recently pointed out, academic theses and other academic papers on politics and related subjects seldom fail to list the LALIT publications, and increasingly the LALIT website. And though that is not our aim, it is a useful side-effect. Politically it is important, because it helps to give a longer view of politics than the myopic view presented in much of the media.
