Latest LALIT REVIEW uploaded in Documents Section - wholly in Kreol

The latest REVI LALIT – 40 pages wholly in Kreol – is now uploaded in the Documents Section of our website. The Magazine comes out once every two months, and No. 149 covers November and December 2022. As usual, it was put together collectively by LALIT members in our “Redaksyon” meetings. But this Revi was special in a few ways, not the least in that it’s got five editorials. In LALIT, we felt that the political situation was so confused as to demand this unusual formulation.
The issue did not go unnoticed. Most people commented informally, and there was a lot of talk about which was each one’s favourite “editorial” of the five, with most people choosing Number Two – on three ways to attack the MSM government that are not at all politically useful – and a second most choosing Number Four – on Ashok Subron’s having dug himself into a political hole, and that he is still digging. On this latter issue, in yesterday’s Le Mauricien (22 December) Deven T. has a cartoon with Ashok Subron (Rezistans on his T-Shirt with a capital letter and “a” lower case for alternative) is on his way to apply for a job as Labour Party red billboard’s advertisement “We are hiring Agents”, with the word “travel” in smaller font and a picture of an aeroplane, mocking Ramgoolam’s absurd “offer”, as general elections near, of giving old age pensioners a free trip to the French colony of Reunion. The Rezistans symbol, the butterfly, is flitting about with a question mark coming out of its mind.
On the second Editorial – the one about three ways not to oppose the MSM – there is, in the Forum page of Le Mauricien the same day (22 December on page 29), a thoughtful analysis by Dr. Jimmy Harmon under the title, “Politique: éclairage attendu et entendu”, referring to the Revi LALIT number 149. In his article, he also looks at the magazine as a whole from an analytical point of view. This kind of political meta-analysis (in the sense of an analysis of someone else’s analysis) is rare these days – in Mauritius, as elsewhere. And a good meta-analysis, like this one, is even rarer.
