Genocide Blog 60 – Israel and the USA as Dangerous Rogue States

It is a New Year just beginning. And the tasks before us loom large. I write about Palestine this New Year. As most families in Ragoo Lane set off loud crackers to bring in the New Year, I hear bombs, mortar shells and bullets in Gaza inside my head. I imagine the long-term trauma Israel wreaks.
There are times in history when what seems, or actually is, a tiny group of people in a “losing battle”, a battle when it is unimaginable to win, actually do “win”, and then afterwards, ep! there is no-one left who admits to having supported the old dictators. I first heard about this phenomenon when activist, mathematician and philosopher, Bertrand Russell – I write from memory – wrote that he was one of a few dozen men, no more, amongst a few hundred women in the whole of Britain, who were publicly in favour of women getting the right to vote at around, say, the beginning of the 20th Century. They were violently criticized, socially ostrasized, often arrested, tried and jailed, even force-fed when they went on hunger strike. By 1918, however, when WWI ended and the women’s suffrage law first came in, he says, you couldn’t find anyone anymore who had ever been against women voting. They volatilized. Same happened with pro-Apartheid white South Africans, and I would say, too, many Mauritian intellectuals eager to criticize anti-Apartheid activists, accuse them of being dreamers, and ostracize them for rocking the boat. They, too, evaporated into thin air when Apartheid was dismantled. They queued up to shake hands with Nelson Mandela, as if they had, themselves helped bring him to power.
So today when I say “we” in this blog on the Palestine question and I use it speaking for all thinking humans on the planet, please understand that I am not being pretentious, but rather making a simple prediction that we are under that same type of exceptional circumstance today when we write on Israel-Palestine. Israel – as a Jewish State on Palestinian land – will finally implode, as it is now doomed to do, there will be no-one who ever supported this criminal Netanyahu regime. No-one who opposed the Palestinians’ quest for freedom on their land. They will all have become part of us “thinking people” by then, even if in retrospect!
This New Year, we, and I speak for all thinking people as I say, have to face the stark reality that we have not been able as yet to stop Israel and the USA from driving the people of Palestine, its women, men and children, from one neighbourhood in Gaza to another in a frenzy Israel intentionally masterminds, and then finally corralling them into flimsy tents on Gaza’s cold beaches in the wind and winter rain. We, the people of the world, have not as yet been able to stop Israel and the USA, all the while, from slaughtering these fleeing people by dropping their bombs on whole families, firing shells from tanks at them, and killing them with bullets from the aimed guns of snipers. We have not managed as yet to stop Israel and the USA imposing intentional starvation, and now death from exposure. Babies die of the cold when they live in makeshift tents in winter. Everyone knows that. Israel and the USA starve people so that they will suffer low resistance to illness. They bomb Palestinians’ sewerage systems and clean water supplies so that illness propagates faster. Yes, Israel and the USA stand accused of doing all this on purpose. It is the only explanation.
We, the people of the world, have not as yet been able to preserve even hospitals from total annihilation. We have not as yet stopped Israel and the USA from singling out men, humans of the male sex, for dehumanization, for being stripped naked in public, for torture and rape – rape justified even by Members of Israel’s parliament in the Knesset, itself – and for murder. We have not as yet even been able to stop Israel and the USA slaughtering women and children by the tens of thousands live on our screens, simply because Israel and USA intend to impose their Zionist plan to hound them out of Palestine or kill them, even invoking god as they do so. The Zionist leaders of Israel shout from the rooftops that what they are doing is destroying Gaza forever, and annexing the West Bank. Their ally, the USA, says that is not what they are doing. The USA says this is supposedly a route to the two-state solution. Have you ever been made to aval kulev kumsa in your born days?
And the disorder and destruction spreads. We have not as yet even been able to get Israel and the USA to say why they bomb the Lebanon indiscriminately whenever they choose. They just do it. For them “law” does not count. Like they go assassinate people of their choosing in places of their choosing. Against all international law. Israel even resorts to mass terrorism of exploding people’s cell phones from at a distance. Or is all this, too, just for “regime change”. Nor do they explain or have to explain, why they go on and on bombing Syria to smithereens even after the “regime change” that was their supposed justification over the past 14 years for their economic strangling of the Syrian people.
But Israel is now a pariah state. It has blown up its “Abraham Accords” with Arab States, as if they had been damp-squibs in the first place. It has blown the little reputation it had left by 7 October amongst the people of the entire world. It is exposed as a rabid, racist colonial enterprise built on the assumption that the Palestinian people do not exist. The shocking thing is that Israel, in its present form as a Jewish State on Palestinian land, has lasted this long.
On 7 October, the Hamas fighters showed the world that the Israeli army was not only not invincible but pitifully inept. The fighters of the different Palestinian brigades broke the fencing down in so many places I had lost count, so I looked it up. In August the IDF conceded its “iron fence” had been breached in 60 places. Hamas took out the Israeli military communications system in one big blow. Then it took over the 11 Israeli military bases over the length of the fencing, and knocked out its main base, killing soldiers. Over 200 prisoners were taken captive. That was the military defeat the IDF suffered. Israel then began a propaganda campaign, that they continue until today although the following have all been exposed as inventions – there were no babies beheaded, there were no babies burnt in ovens, there were no fetuses ripped form mother’s tummies, there were no mass rapes. In fact, there is no evidence – police evidence, forensic evidence, witness testimony of any value – of even one rape. There are so far no rape victims, dead or alive. So, there is invented atrocity propaganda. How sick is that? In German, this is called “gräuelpropaganda”. For the Israelis it had two functions, this sick set of lies. First, it prevented the world seeing the humiliating defeat that the “invincible” high-tech Israeli military subsidized to the tune of billions of USA dollars each year, suffered at the hands of a few hundred young men in sandals with cheap, home-made weapons and not even a single airplane or tank. Second, and at the same time, it acted as a means of trying desperately to justify the unjustifiable: Israeli killing in cold blood of Palestinian civilian men, women, children, the sick and the injured included, the new-born and those in terminal care, the physically disabled and children with severe autism, the mentally ill and those so confused already by illnesses like Alzeimers that the bombing made unbearable.
So, Israel’s veil of propaganda has been torn off. Its lies have been exposed. And they have now been exposed in retrospect for 76 years: the Nakba, or hounding out of 750,000 Palestinians around 1948, the constant and worsening so-called “ethnic cleansing” of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the Israeli Apartheid, its constant colonization of more Palestinian land, its troops firing on peaceful demonstrators in the Gaza Long March of Return in 2018. It has all been exposed now.
The USA’s political class – all those corrupt Senators and Representatives that take money from the AIPAC capitalist lobby that rates Israel’s supposed interests over the interests of the electors of their Constituencies – are now exposed. The Christian Zionists role in the lobby have also been exposed. Using bizarre Biblical references for propaganda reasons in public when necessary, these politicians further the interests of none other than the “big arms corporations” and fossil fuels conglomerates. If they were not so powerful, they would be called “lunatics”. These are the fundamentalists, the religious “integrists” of the worst ilk.
European leaders have, in general, acted no better than American ones like Biden, Blinken, Sullivan and Austin. And that is bad. Arab monarchies and dictators, except that they fear their own people more than the European leaders fear theirs, are as obsequious until now to the USA as the German Chancellor Scholz.
The only “powers” which have stood with the people of Palestine are the Lebanese Hezbullah which is part of Government, the Yemeni’s quasi-government, to a lesser extent the Syrian Government under Al Assad before it fell, Iraqi militants who are organized, and Iran. Other powers have not taken a firm enough stand. In other countries, it’s been the people that have stood up, while their Governments support Israel: not just the USA, but almost all European governments and Australia and Canada. What we could call “the West” is behind the Israeli-USA genocide. But, not the people of the West. No longer.
The ANC government in South Africa took a stand. It filed the case against Israel for genocide at the ICJ. Now 14 other countries have joined. Let us, in 2025, make the new Mauritian government add our name to this proud list of countries that stood up to be counted. More countries might follow, who knows ?
Remember, soon – but not soon enough – there will have been nobody who supported Israel. The Israeli military has not beaten Hamas yet. It has weakened the Hezbollah temporarily. It helped destroy Syria, and continues to bomb it. Israel works to make Trump attack Iran. Let us stop this madness. The Israeli economy is in tatters. The Israeli State’s days are numbered.
Let us make the Israeli racist State fall sooner, so we can prevent the continuing Israeli massacre of the people of Palestine. One thing we can do is get any organization we are in to take a public stand in favour of Mauritius joining in to the South African case against Israel’s genocide at the ICJ.
